Section 107 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 provides for creation of a Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU) by State Governments/UT Administrations for every district and city to coordinate all functions of Police related to children. In this regard, the Government of Meghalaya passed out an order for creation of a Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU) vide Letter No HPL 166/2008/Pt/82 dated 12/05/2017. The Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU), West Jaintia Hills District Executive Force was reconstituted again which is directly under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police, West Jaintia Hills District and consists of the following members:
