Road Safety Week, 2019

On the day of 4th February 2019 @ 10:00 AM, the opening ceremony program in observance of the 30th National Road Safety week was held at Ummulong stand, Jowai,which was organized by the office of DTO. The program was chaired by DTO himself and was participated by the Hon’ble Deputy Commissioner West Jaintia Hills, Superintendent of Police West Jaintia Hills, D& HO, West Jaintia Hills, Joint Director of School, West Jaintia Hills and Headmen of different Localities of Jowai Town and the President of Local and Tourist Taxi Association and others.

On the same day@ 02:00 pm, a program was conducted at Lad Stadium by conducting combined vehicle checking along with the staff from DTO’s office and also given counselling to violators and pedestrians which was followed by the distribution of pamphlet and light refreshment to staff and participants.

On 05/2/2019 @ 11:00 am,a program was conducted at 8th Mile ShangpungJunction with the staff from DTO and I/C 8th mile Traffic cell along with his staff and Headman of 8th Mile. The VDP’s members were also present during the program hour, later the program was concludedfollowed by the joint vehicle Checking and distribution of pamphlet, counselling to vulnerable road users and light refreshment to staff and participants.

On 06/2/2019 @ 11:00 AM, at 4th mile the program continued by conducting the combined Vehicle Checking along with the staff from DTO’s office and also given counselling to violators which was followed by the distribution of pamphlet and light refreshment to staff and participants.

On 07/02/2019 @ 11:00 am the road safety program was conducted at Ummulong / Wahiajer Taxi Standaccompanied by I/C Ummulong BH along with his staff,the Headman of Ummulong along with the other villages and taxi drivers participated as well. Later it was followed by the vehicle checking at WahMynsoo area and during checking hours gave counselling to violators and distributed the pamphlet.

On 08/02/2019 @ 09:00 am the Road safety program was conducted Amlarem Market and was participated by the staff from DTO’s office, O/C Amlarem PS along with his staff, the villagers and the tourist association of the Amlarem area. Also conducted combined vehicle checking with the DTO’s Office staff at Treiongriang Bridge and gave counselling to violators and distribution of pamphlet.

On the 09/02/2019 @ 10:00 Am the closing ceremony of the road safety week was conducted at Ummulong stand, prior to this there was a rally which was conducted by the Local Taxi association which began from the DTO’s Office to Jrisalein and closed at Ummulong stand. The closing ceremony of the program was participated by DTO, Dy. Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Smt.S Mukherjee, MPS,President, secretary and members of Local and tourist Taxi Association and school students from Jaintia Secondary School.
