The CCTNS, Project is a Mission Mode Project under the National e-Governance Plan of the Union Government. The State Police on 14th January 2013 launched the Centrally-funded Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS). Shri Kulbir Krishan, Director General of Police, Meghalaya, Shillong graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
Aims
To facilitate collection, storage, retrieval, analysis, transfer and sharing of data and information between the police stations and the police Headquarter. CCTNS aims at creating a comprehensive and integrated system for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of policing through adoption of the principle of e-Governance and creation of a nationwide networking infrastructure for evolution of IT-enabled state-of-the-art tracking system for ‘investigation of crime and detection of criminals’. To make police functioning citizen friendly and more transparent by automating the functioning of police stations besides improving delivery of citizen-centric services through effective usage of information and communication technology and providing the Investigating Officers with tools, technology and information to facilitate investigation of crime and detection of criminals.
Benefits
This system will also benefit the citizens as they can register their grievances against any police stations online and they can keep track of the progress of their cases. The CCTNS will also reduce manual and redundant records keeping. Common Citizen can initiate verification request for servants, employment, tenant, Senior citizen registrations, No Objection Certificates etc. Safe and Secure environment due to improved Law and Order situation and effective crime prevention and crime control.
