FESTIVALS

  • BEHDIENKHLAM: It is held annually in the month of July at Jowai Town and Tuber village.
  • CHAD SUKRA: This festival of dances is held annually in Jowai and many villages of Jaintia Hills, for a day in the month of April/May before the sowing season.
  • DURGA PUJA is celebrated in Nartiang village once a year in the month of September and October.
  • DISCOVER JAINTIA, a Tourism Festival is also celebrated every year.

Welcome to District Police

West Jaintia Hills District is one of the 12 (twelve) districts of the state of Meghalaya. With the bifurcation of the erstwhile Jaintia Hills District into East and West Jaintia Hills District, West Jaintia Hills District came into existence on 31st July 2012 with its Head Quarter in Jowai. Jowai is the host of all the heads of important governmental offices and establishments, educational institutions, hospitals, banking institutions, etc.
